Everyone wants to get ahead! Everyone wants to make more money. And with the invention and astounding expansion of the internet, more and more people are starting an online business. You can sell your own product, or sell someone else’s, provide a service, or sell a service - the list is endless. However, like any business, there are advantages and disadvantages of an online operation. This article attempts to outline some of these advantages and disadvantages. I’ll also give some simple tips on overcoming the disadvantages and consolidating the advantages.
Many online businesses are run from home, which has it’s own perils and pitfalls, if you are not aware of them. Working from home, there are many distractions that can take away your focus from making the business successful. It is so easy to be distracted by kids, spouse/partner, the television, the fridge (:-), your backyard, friends, … Losing your concentration on making your business successful is a business killer. A simple solution is to make time for each of these distractions - when you are with your family, be with your family 100%. When you are in your yard, concentrate on that. Record your favourite TV shows and watch them at an appropriate time. Set yourself break times and stick to them. Tell your friends when you are working - THIS IS YOUR JOB. Would they visit you if you were in an office whenever they wanted? Occasionally yes, but not all the time. This will allow you to focus on your business when you should be focusing.
