Become an Expert
You must do your research and become an expert on the topic that you are now writing about. You can gain this expertise either from personal experience, or from reading other subject matter, but which ever way, it must be 100 % obvious to your readers that you are an expert.
Find a problem and solve it.
People have problems, what they want are solutions. Provide those solutions in an easy to follow ebook and you stand a very good chance of success.
Provide Evidence
If you make claims in your ebook, then you should back them up with the evidence, or the statistics where you can. You need to have credibility, and backing up your thoughts and experiences with other statistics and evidence will ensure that people take your view point more seriously.
Easy to Read and Understand
Make sure that whatever your subject topic is, to bring it down to the most basic level that you can. Remember your target audience, are not experts. Try to avoid too many acronyms, specific terms to your industry and so on… Try to bring your ebook down to the level of the person reading it.
Pictures and Examples
A picture tells a thousand words… a very true statement. Try and add as many graphic images as you can. They will add to the readers enjoyment of reading the book. Also add as many relevant examples as you can of the points that you are making. Again, explain a concept, but then give a real life example where you can use it / have use it etc..
Copywriters and Proof readers
You should certainly consider having your ebook professionally written by a copywriter. They are trained to write well ,using the correct spelling, punctuation, layout and format. You should also consider getting someone else to proof read your work. After working for some time on the ebook, you need a fresh pair of eyes to have a look at your work. You will not sell may ebooks if it contains bad spelling, poor grammar, and generally looks a very poor effort.
Ecovers help you Sell
People know that they are getting a digital product, but they will still like to see something tangible. It is vital that you spend some money on getting some good graphic images of your digital product done.
File Size
Remember to keep an eye on the file size. Your customers will have to download the file. Some of them may not have broadband access. If the file is too big, then they may not bother to download it as it will take too long.
Traffic
You must get large quantities of traffic to your site. This really is key. Without that you really are dead in the water. Of course it is fair to say that when they get to the site, everything else needs to be in order - sales page etc….but without website traffic you have no chance. Invest in optimising your site, so that you get found by all the search engines, perhaps invest in some Pay per click adverts to get you started.
Try Before You Buy
The best way to get more people to buy your ebooks, is if they can sample them before hand. So let them. Let them download a chapter, perhaps 2 chapters. That will do a few things. Show them that you are an expert, show them some of the value of the ebook, highlight what they are missing, prove to them that you are credible and to be trusted.
By encouraging people to download a chapter, you are also capturing their email details. This will then allow you to send them more information about your products via email.
