The use of ink has come a long way from the old ink bottle and fountain pen. Many people reading this article will be too young to remember the old school desk with the hole in the top right hand corner for the ink bottle. If you have ever had to use and ink pen you will know how slow and messy it could be. In today’s world we have all moved from this type of ink use to the use of cartridge ink.
From using an ink bottle to the standard pens that we are all familiar with most of the written word is delivered with the use of cartridge ink. However the use of cartridge ink over the pen has expanded greatly into areas of our lives that we would not have considered possible.
Cartridge ink has replaced the pen in school and college work as we might have expected, but who ever rewrote a 3000 word essay because there were a few spelling mistakes? Not many, as most would tipex or simply scored it out. Too many scores and it didn’t look too good but most people could get away with a few. Now we would not submit a piece of work with spelling mistakes. Rather we would run a spelling check and reprint the article, hence the growth of cartridge ink.
The use of cartridge ink have been greatly helped with the growth of the internet. Where before you might have gone to the local library or your favorite book shop to get the information you were after, now you may be more inclined to go to the internet and print off the information. You would be less likely to go to the library and write out word for word the information you needed, but this again is how cartridge ink has grown in use in recent years.
In the past if you wanted to go on holidays you went to a local travel agent and booked your holiday. You would then have called in a few days later for your tickets and a large envelope full of terms and conditions etc. Not anymore, now you can simply go online and book your holiday from the comfort of your own home. The required information is emailed to you and you simply use your cartridge ink to print off whatever information you need.
Working from home has greatly increased in the last 20 years. Not just working from home but working on the train on the way home or working on the beach during holidays – sad I know! However as more and more people are working from home, they are using cartridge ink from their own computers.
It was once believed that the growth in computers would lead to paperless offices but this has not been the case. What they have led to is the growth in cartridge ink. Nowadays people are less careful about how things are written, simply because they can print out draft copies and quickly and easily amend them prior to the final product. Once again this has led to an increase in cartridge ink.
Perhaps the biggest use of cartridge ink comes from digital cameras. As more and more people have digital cameras they are loading their photos onto their computer, modifying the pictures and then downloading using their own cartridge ink. In this way one is free to pick and chose which photos to print off and which to scrap.
Who would have thought 30 years ago that over 60% of the population of the western world would be using cartridge ink in their home on a regular basis?
